This work represents my standard process for any project I work on. In this case a school project based around figure and lighting. The first four pages represent the initial development, just simply trying to get an idea to work with. After playing with a few ideas I settled on a concept dealing with the fire giant Surtur (a figure from Norse mythology) forging his sword in the realm of fire. with the concept selected I then refined the look of the character as well as figuring out the pose. Once I decided on these I used posable drawing model for reference, I also did a rough sculpt of his head to understand how it would look from different angles. With all these assets I developed a final refined sketch which was then scanned into the computer. Here I was able to use my 13HD Cintiq and photoshop to paint the drawing digitally and add text.
